Homework

Homework is an important part of independent learning. Homework reinforces and extends classroom learning.

The Grange P-12 College Homework Policy incorporates the recommendations of the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD). The homework Policy for Middle School Students includes

Middle Years Homework

Homework will generally range from

  • 30-45 minutes a day at Year 5, to
  • 45-90 minutes a day in Year 9.

Year 5-9 homework

  • should include daily independent reading
  • should be coordinated across teachers to avoid unreasonable workloads for students
  • may include extension of class work, projects and assignments, essays and research.

Parents are encouraged to discuss and monitor homework completion with their child and to contact the College regarding any concerns. Parents need to provide the opportunity for their child to complete theri homework in an appropriate location. The College offers a homework club for students who would like some assistance with homework.
