Victorian Representative Team – Try OutsWe have had a number of our students perform extremely well at state try-outs for their selected sport. The standout performers were: Amen Kassa (Soccer) – Amen progressed through the 2nd stage of the selection process, great effort Amen! Lerhys Hikuroa-Betham (Netball) – Lerhys progressed through the 2nd stage of the selection process, well done! Chase Guy (AFL Football) – Chase progressed through to the 4th stage of the selection process and although he didn’t make the team, it was a massive achievement to be amongst the best footballers in metropolitan Victoria in his age group. Well don Chase! Tana Edgecombe (AFL Football & Rugby League) – Tana progressed through to the 3rd stage of the selection process in both sports and we are all very proud of his efforts! Dylan Munkman (Rugby League) – Dylan has been lucky enough to make the Victorian under 12’s Boys Rugby League team and will participate in the national titles in Melbourne from August 6th – August 13th. This is a major achievement for Dylan and something that the Grange community should be very proud of! Please stay tuned for an upcoming fundraiser that will raise money to support Dylan with his efforts. Rugby League Gala Day
At the end of term one we took 3 teams to play in the annual rugby league gala day competition. The competition was held at loft reserve in Newport and all games were played with full tackling using modified rules.
We took one year 6 boys, one 5 boys and one 5/6 girls team. Congratulations and well done to the following students:
Year 6 boys
Bailey Starvrou Kyle Segon Tuloto Maiva Rhys Boys Chase Guy Amen Kassa Dylan Munkman
Tana Edgecombe Niko Silao Suipeli Finau

All 3 teams competed to the very best of their ability in all of their games that they competed in and represented our school in the best possible manner. The year 5 boys team played in a non-competitive round robin competition and competed with great skill, there were plenty of potential stars of the future with Bailey Valastro awarded the best player throughout the day. The girls made it through to the grand final and were unfortunately beaten by Baden Powell Derrimut health by 1 try. Citrine turner was named best player throughout the day. The year 6 boys also made it through to the grand final and were lucky enough to win 5 tries to 2 tries against West Grove Primary. Dylan Munkman was named best player throughout the day. Our boys team has now qualified to participate in the state finals competition called “The Slater Shield” in November!
Also a big thankyou goes out to Heather Moody who gave up her time to coach the year 5 boys team and Sam King for coaching the girls team. It was great to see lots of parent supporters on the day as well.
Well done to all involved!!!
