Dear parents, carers and students,
As you are aware, our College was advised of a reported case of coronavirus (COVID-19) ( not from a staff or student) and was closed for 24 hours from Friday 31 July 2020 as a requested precautionary measure. Again this case occurred at Deloraine Campus and after school hours, no students were present onsite. Hopefully this has minimised our risk and to further support our community we have insisted on a high quality deep clean of our facilities.
We followed our correct procedures and this case has been reported to the Department of Education and Training (DET), and the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is currently undertaking further investigation.
The school will now remain closed until advised otherwise. Again we will keep you fully informed of when our College will re-open. Please continue to look at our Compass, Facebook and Class Dojo communications, it is really now very important to do this so we remain working collectively and are fully informed of what is happening.
While DHHS conducts further investigation, all staff and students are asked to stay at home until further advice is provided. This includes all VET and VCE students, including those who attend these classes at other sites.
At this stage staff and students do not need to seek testing unless they develop symptoms.
The school will be closed to all students, staff and members of the community.
This means that even the following categories of students are not able to attend school, until I advise you differently:
students in years 11 and 12
students in Year 10 for VCE or VCAL classes
students who require on-site supervision – including children whose parents cannot work from home and where no other arrangements can be made, vulnerable children and children with a disability. All staff will work from home during this time also.
Students in Prep to Year 10 at government schools in metropolitan Melbourne and the Mitchell Shire will continue to learn from home until at least 19 August.
While our school is closed, Remote Learning will continue for all students from Prep to Year 12.
“ It is absolutely vital that our Year 12 VCAL and VCE students remain engaged and communicate with their teachers – please don’t fall behind with your studies, we are there to assist you – please continue to talk to your teachers and complete all online classes.”
The closure will allow appropriate cleaning of the school site.
